Video: Every man for himself as massive brawl erupts in Georgian rugby match

There are minor scuffles and there are major scuffles and then there is this huge brawl that broke out in a Georgian club rugby game recently.

The confrontational nature of rugby means that tempers are always likely to flare from time to time but for the most part, any fights that do break out involve only a few players and are normally quelled within seconds before any major damage is done.

Every now and again things get out of hand, however, as was the case in the Georgian top flight recently, when virtually every player got involved in a particularly nasty looking brawl that broke out during a clash between Ilia Uni Jikebi and Lelo.

It all started innocuously enough when one player didn’t take particularly kindly to being tackled after a lineout and soon nearly every player was involved as flashpoints occurred in different areas of the pitch.

Some officials tried in vain to break it up while others treated those who were injured and eventually the referee managed to restore order after a minute or so. The brawl is remarkably similar to one that broke out in Poland a few weeks ago and this one is arguably even more unseemly, even if no brawl is particularly easy on the eye.

Down with this sort of thing etc.

Hat-tip to the folks at Rugby Dump for this one
