VIDEO: French fans copy Irish fans by singing for the police in Lyon

Alan Loughnane

Gone but not forgotten…

Even though Ireland have exited the Euros, along with England last night, our team and our fans are still being fondly remembered in France in this video.

The French newspaper Le Parisien has used the headline “Euro 2016: the French copy the Irish singing for police,” to describe the scene.

Needless to say, the Irish fans left a lasting impression on the French.

The article states that in Lyon on Sunday night, “the French fans took over the Irish hit ‘Stand up for the French police.'”

“This song was sung by Irish fans on the eve of a crucial match against Belgium in Bordeaux.

“Slightly tipsy, then they had shared their good humor with police.”

The video has been viewed over 1.2m times and has racked up 12,000 shares on Facebook since it was captured by France 3 Rhône-Alpes.

Cheers to Anna Marie living in Rennes for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to [email protected] or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
