If you’ve heard Eddie Hoare do his Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh impersonation before, you’ll know what’s coming. If you haven’t, prepare to be impressed.

Galway forward Hoare was on the losing side in the Galway county final in Tuam Stadium on Sunday as Corofin ran out convincing winners over Hoare’s St. Michael’s on a scoreline of 5-12 – 0-9.

There is a lovely GAA tradition in a number of counties where the defeated county finalists meet up and share a drink with the victors on the night after the game and it was observed by Hoare and his St. Michael’s teammates last night.

In a pub in Corofin, Hoare was coaxed into performing his party piece – a magnificent impersonation of renowned GAA commentator Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh – and even though he was playing in the game he was still able to provide excellent retrospective commentary, not missing the opportunity to take the p*ss out of a few players on both sides along the way.

There’s so much to like about this, from the quality of the impersonation itself to the camaraderie between both sets of players so soon after going to battle in such an important encounter; another example of what makes the GAA so great.

Hat-tip to St. Michael’s GAA for sending this one our way
