It’s the big transfer gossip of the day, and the lads had a chat about it on Monday Night Football before they signed off.
When the back pages hit the net last night at about 10.30, the Daily Telegraph dominated with its splash on the possibility of Juan Mata moving from Chelsea to Manchester United for £37million.
On paper it makes sense as the talented Spaniard is frozen out at Stamford Bridge while David Moyes desperately needs some new blood to reinvigorate his first season in charge at Old Trafford.
However, as the news broke while Sky’s Monday Night Football was still on the air, the topic came up for discussion between Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville last night. Both analysts brought typically insightful arguments to the table and both reckoned that Mata was not the perfect fit for United, at least not as they currently play.
Their reasons are well worth a listen. We wonder if the powers that be at Old Trafford were watching?
