Video: Have you seen the ad USA Rugby are using to promote the Ireland game this summer?

Leprechauns, pots of gold, diddly-iddle dee music; the ad put together to sell Ireland’s game with the US this summer is a bit odd.

Posted online in March but only getting a good airing over here now thanks to being highlighted on Reddit, the USA Rugby ad for Ireland’s game against the Eagles in June is a weird one.

Starring Todd Clever it features our side represented by a leprechaun and all the classic leprechaun stuff (high-pitched voice, pot of gold, arm’s length punches) are rolled out.

It ends with a cavalry charge of 15 green shirts against Clever before announcing that the game is on in Houston on June 8.

We’re not going to call it racist, but it is certainly terrible. And if you needed a reason to tear your eyes away from the Lions Tour and cheer for Ireland to give the Eagles a hammering next month, this is it.
