FC Zurich have issued legal proceedings against FC Aarau player Sandro Wieser following his horrific tackle on their player, former Ivory Coast international, Gilles Yapi-Yapo.
The match from the Swiss top flight was played at the weekend and this challenge from Liechtenstein international Wieser on Yapi-Yapo is sickening. No really, it’s horrific.
If you’re squeamish, you may want to look away now:
Wieser has taken to Facebook to protest his innocence saying “I totally regret what happened. There was absolutely no intent on my part.”
That’s debatable at best when you see the challenge and there are real fears that Yapi-Yapo will never play again.
His list of injuries following this challenge has resulted in him having a torn anterior ligament, torn interior cruciate ligament, serious cartilage damage, a torn meniscus, a torn kneecap tendon and deep bruising to his thigh…
