Not that it will make defeat any easier to take for Celtic fans, but it took a goal of genuine quality for Ajax to beat the Hoops in Amsterdam last night.
Only a single goal separated the sides in the Amsterdam Arena last night and it was a thing of beauty as Lasse Schone weaved his way through the middle of the Celtic defence after a slick move involving six players before finishing neatly past Fraser Forster from Thulani Serero’s through ball.
The move was executed at top speed and reminiscent of the type of goal that Lionel Messi scores for Barcelona on a regular basis and it is likely to be the final nail in Celtic’s chances of reaching the knockout stages, with Neil Lennon’s men needing a miracle against Barcelona and AC Milan in their final two games to have any chance of progressing to the last 16.
