Video: Leinster players (and George Hook) wish a 104-year old Leinster fan a very happy birthday

This is a lovely touch from nearly the entire Leinster squad to a lady who’s passed the century mark and is still going strong.

This is a lovely touch from nearly the entire Leinster squad to a lady who’s passed the century mark and is still going strong.

Rugby fan Mary Byrne turned 104 (that’s right 104) this week and to mark the very special occasion, her granddaughter Helen Martin called in some help from the Leinster rugby squad to put together a tribute that Mary will never forget.

Helen was able to grab a hold of nearly every Leinster player in the aftermath of their victory over Ulster at the RDS at the weekend, with the likes of Rob Kearney, Sean O’Brien, Fergus McFadden, Ian Madigan, Gordon D’Arcy and many, many more all stopping to say a word and congratulate her on her big day.

Helen, who put the video together, is one of Mary’s 36 grandchildren and with eight children and 39 (and counting) great grandchildren, there will be plenty of family members to carry on supporting the Blues for generations to come.

Happy Birthday Mary!
