Conor McGregor will take on American Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier at UFC 178 on Saturday September 27 in Las Vegas in what is sure to be an explosive match-up.
This will be McGregor’s sternest test to date and will surely be a litmus test of whether or not McGregor is the real deal or if he just talks a big game.
In this video, Dan Hardy and John Gooden preview the bout on Inside the Octagon and reveal some interesting insights about the styles of both fighters. We hadn’t noticed, for example, that McGregor tends to hold his hands quite low but now it’s all we can see when we watch his fights.
Hardy’s analysis also reveals details about Poirier, such as his tendency to duck his head and cover-up, a move that leaves him susceptible to a vicious uppercut. This could be an area for McGregor to target considering he used a left-handed uppercut tremendously well in his UFC debut against Marcus Brimage.
