Video: Oh dear. These are two of the worst shots you’re likely to see a professional golfer take

The commentator's groan sums up how bad the shots were and how awkward it was to watch.

American golfer Richard H. Lee had an absolute shocker on the edge of the 17th green at the Players Championship in Florida last night.

The things professional golfers can do with a ball are incredible, skills that hackers like us can only dream of doing but every so often they mess up and we revel in their misfortune.

What happened to Richard H. Lee on the 17th at the Stadium Course is something you have to see to believe; the American has a straightforward chip from the edge of the green and Lee tops the ball, tops the ball… okay lesson learned. The pressure is on now so he pulls out the putter to make things a little easier, and incredibly he tops the ball again…

The squeal of the commentator is exactly how we reacted in JOE towers, and if we were in Richard’s shoes, we’d probably have jumped in the lake and swam away.

Martyn Kaymer won the tournament, the German finished one shot clear of Jim Furyk on 11 under par.
