No matter where your footballing allegiances lie, there can be no doubt that Paul Scholes was a player of the greatest quality. Technically one of the greatest players of his generation and the man who Zidane called his most difficult opponent.
High praise indeed.
It is hard to believe that it is exactly eight years to the day when he scored this absolute howitzer against Aston Villa at Villa Park. A goal of breathtaking technique and the fact that it goes in off the underside of the crossbar just makes it even better.
Even Martin Tyler seemed lost for words simply saying… “Hoooooowwww???!!”
