Young Portuguese player Joao Bello was clearly brought up well.
In a rugby 7s match against Fiji during which his side was 17-0 down, Bello – making his debut in the Sevens Series – spoke to the referee after the match official had sent one of the Fijians to the sin bin for throwing the ball away.
Bello explained to Rasta Rasivhenge that his Fijian opponent had not thrown the ball away and he was promptly called back.
The South African referee subsequently thanked the 19-year-old Bello for his honesty.
