Video: Professional cyclist viciously assaults rival during race

Road rage at its ugly best

Road rage at it’s ugly best.

We’ve all heard of cases of road rage on our streets. Tempers flare quite regularly as people battle for postion on the roads, but rarely do we see it boil over during an official sporting event.

This footage is taken in Massachusetts and features Jerome Townsend, riding in the colours of BikeReg Elite Cycling, who can be seen punching Dave Warner of the Jamaica Plain team as he sits on the wet road.

Townsend took to social media to apologise for his actions, but it wasn’t enough and his team sacked him.

There had been a bit of argy bargy during the race, but Townsend crossed the line (no pun intended) with his retaliation.
