Video: Ridiculously good 40-yard free-kick goal from the African Nations Championship
What a hit this is by Mozambique's Dario Khan...
Right now down in South Africa the African Nations Championship is taking place. The tournament was created in 2009 and this year's is the third edition. The quirk to this international tournament is that only players based in your country's league who are also qualified for the country can take part. That means that all the biggest names in African football are absent but that doesn't mean the tournament is lacking in quality.
Just the opposite in fact, as a game today between Mozambique and Nigeria has produced one of the goals of the year so far. With just 10 minutes gone, Mozambique were awarded a free kick that was 40 yards or more from goal. Dario Khan stepped up, spotted the Nigerian keeper wasn't paying 100 per cent attention and lamped it past him with tremendous speed and accuracy.
It really was a sensational strike.
In the end, Nigeria came back to win 4-2, but the day belonged to Khan.
