Ireland’s record goalscorer trained with the side ahead of their trip to LA next year.

Robbie Keane and his wife Claudine dropped in on Ireland’s Special Olympics players earlier this week, as Team Ireland continue preparations for next year’s World Summer Games in Los Angeles.

Ireland’s captain and record goalscorer revealed how he plans to join up with his new pals when they fly over to the States.

“I had a training session with the players today and I have to say I really enjoyed it,” he said. “It was great to see how excited the athletes are to be part of this huge event. Both Claudine and I are honoured and privileged to have been asked to be ambassadors for Team Ireland and we both want to do as much as we can to help support the athletes.

“I’ve been very fortunate in my life to play in big tournaments like the World Cup, the European Championship, and I know how it important it was to me, the team, and the nation.

“This is exactly the same thing expect we as a nation need to help get them there. I would urge everyone, particularly businesses, to dig deep and get behind the athletes. At the end of the day, these athletes are representing Ireland,” he added.
