Video: Robbie Keane scores the winner, lifts the MLS title and destroys a journalist

An eventful and memorable night for Ireland's captain...

JOE doesn’t often buy into sporting fairytale’s but we all know that Los Angeles is where boyhood dreams can come true and they certainly did for Robbie Keane last night.

The Irish captain didn’t go to Disneyland, at least we think he didn’t, but rather scored an extra-time winner as the LA Galaxy beat New England Revolution 2-1 to lift the MLS Championship for a 5th time.

Galaxy’s opener arrived midway through the second-half thanks to Gyasi Zardes before Jay Tierney levelled the match on 79 minutes.

Keane couldn’t have written a more perfect script, aside from his refusal to square the ball to Landon Donovan for a tap-in on his final game, but the striker did grab the headlines with this dramatic winner.

Here’s a look at it again in super slow-motion and at that celebration.

If that wasn’t enough then the Republic of Ireland’s record goalscorer firmly put a journalist in his place after he asked Keane about the two chances that he missed during the match. This is class.
