It will come as no surprise to all JOE readers to learn that we have something of a mancrush on Bayern Munich’s former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.
We’ve discussed at length why the Spanish midfielder is so cool but Liverpool’s captain has weighed in on the subject.
Steven Gerrard has been talking about his former midfield partner in the build-up to the Reds’ match with Real Madrid at Anfield tomorrow and about the ‘fantastic relationship’ that he was with Alonso.
Xabi won’t feature of course, having left the European champions for Bayern Munich in late August, but that didn’t stop Gerrard from talking about the man who can boast about having a World Cup, two Champions Leagues and an amazing beard to his name.
