It’s hard to think of an Irish sporting documentary we’ve looked forward to more than this.
The television fare over the festive season hasn’t been fantastic by any means, but one thing we absolutely can’t wait for is the documentary – put together by Dave Berry and Nathan Nugent – on former Munster and Ireland out-half Ronan O’Gara that will air on RTE on January 2.
Following on from the excellent teaser trailer released last week, the latest extended clip offers a fascinating insight into O’Gara’s rivalry with Jonathan Sexton and, perhaps, more tellingly, his relationship (or lack thereof) with his former Munster and Ireland manager Declan Kidney over the years.
Always brutally honest and always a fascinating character, O’Gara is the perfect subject for a documentary such as this and from what we’ve seen so far, it looks like it’s going to be a brilliant watch.
The documentary goes to air on January 2 at 9.30 so make sure you’re not busy on that evening or, if you are, make sure to record it because you’re not going to want to miss this.
