I swear to god, being an Irish football supporter will age you by about 50 years! There have been countless painful memories during Irish qualification campaigns, Macedonia, Cyprus, Lichtenstein and a certain Mr Henry all spring to mind, but last night was the polar opposite.
Shane Long’s fantastic strike means that we’re the masters of our own fate because a win against Poland on Sunday will see us playing football at Euro 2016 in France next summer.
The 1-0 win against the world champions could probably be best described as an absolute rollercoaster of emotions and our own Eric Lalor was on hand to speak with some of the jubilant Irish fans after the game.
This win will live long in the memory of football fans and this footage is absolutely brilliant. Check it out.
