Video: The trailer for a documentary about the most northerly game of Gaelic Football ever played looks great

If you thought that the GAA stopped at Malin in Donegal then you’ve another thing coming.

If you thought that the GAA stopped at Malin in Donegal then you’ve another thing coming.

The reason we mention Malin is that, as far as we’re aware at least, it is home to the most northerly GAA club in Ireland.

But the game of Gaelic Football itself was recently played far north of Donegal, however, many hundreds and hundreds of miles away in Oulu in Finland, a place Michael O‘Muircheartaigh might say isn’t exactly a GAA stronghold.

Oulu Irish Elks took on Helsinki Harps on 5 October in the most northerly game of Gaelic Football ever played and seeing as it was a fairly momentous occasion, Ronan Browne of Full Focus Media put together a documentary called ‘The Northernmost Point’, featuring contributions from those involved and, of course, actual match footage, including a fairly juicy-looking shoulder challenge about 35 seconds in.

We look forward to seeing the end product.

Thanks to Ronan Browne for sending this into us
