Video: The William Tell darts trick-shot that you should never, ever try at home

One dart, one gutsy if incredibly gullible volunteer, one apple, a pair of protective goggles and a couple of smartphones to record the evidence. What could possibly go wrong?

One dart, one gutsy if incredibly gullible volunteer, one apple, a pair of protective goggles and a couple of smartphones to record the evidence. What could possibly go wrong?

We should start off by saying that we in no way encourage or condone this sort of behaviour, nor have we any idea how the lads involved managed to come up with the idea for a William Tell-style darts prank, where one of them volunteered to place an apple on his head and allowed his mate to try and knock it off with one dart from close range.

Fortunately, there was no blood spilled and no injuries occurred as a result, thanks to the Phil Taylor-like steady hand of the thrower and the distance between him and the target, who either has some pair of balls on him or is so stupid that he had no problem putting himself in a position of great peril in the first place.

The lads got a great kick out of it but again, we should stress the folly of repeating something similar at home. It will not end well.

Hat-tip to Rob Meehan on Twitter for giving us the heads-up on this one
