The 24 year-old has been in tremendous form all year and capped off a consistent Premier League campaign by beating the most successful man in the competition Phil Taylor in front of a packed arena.

Trailing 5-2 at one stage, MVG rattled off four legs in a row with an average of 103.29 as the Power had no answer to a super display from the Dutchman. He hit nine 180s in total to claim the top prize in his debut season, and his final checkout was fitting of any victory.

Requiring 132, he went bull, treble 19, bullseye for a cavalier finish that had the supporters in raptures.

A great win for the Dutchman and a most spectacular finish.
