Video: Wicklow under-21 player shown black card for roaring ‘Where’s your f**king black card?’ at the ref

He did ask for it, in fairness.

He did ask for it, in fairness.

A total of 19 black cards were dished out in the first weekend of senior inter-county Gaelic Football action at the weekend, but no matter how many are issued in 2014, arguably none of them will be issued in funnier circumstances than an under-21 clash between Meath and Wicklow in recent days.

After one of his teammates appeared to be taken out of it with what might be classed as a ‘deliberate body collision’, one Wicklow player instantly appealed for justice, but did so using a bit of profanity that was not appreciated by the man in black.

Instead of giving the Meath playera black card for his offence, he instead flashed it in the direction of the sweary Wicklow player, as he was well entitled to do as the player in question had committed a textbook breach of the ‘remonstrate with an official’ category of black card offences.

In fairness to the Wicklow player in question he’s hardly likely to be the last player issued with a black card for this particular offence but even he can’t fail to recognise and appreciate the humorous aspect of his own misfortune in this case.
