Ben Murphy from Wexford loves and hates GAA referees, so he wrote a song about it that he hopes it will raise some money for a very good cause.

The GAA referee must be the most derided subsection of Irish sporting society. Volunteers up and down the country receive dog’s abuse for no reward and yet they continue to turn out, week in week out to facilitate the playing of games. In short, they are heroes who we should support a lot more than we do.

One man who knows all about the GAA referee is Wexford man Ben Murphy. Allegedly sent off 17 times in his GAA career to date, Ben, with a little help from the lads at GAA Banter, decided to tap into his vast experience of the folks in black and wrote a song about it. Called ‘Ah Referee’ it’s a catchy little number that every GAA player and fan will instantly understand.

The single can be downloaded from iTunes here and Google Play here and all proceeds go to RAG (Raising and Giving Ireland) a student organisation that helps fund social projects run by students near third level campuses.
