Vine: Adrian finished off an epic penalty shoot-out in the coolest way possible last night

The gloves were off... literally

Conor Heneghan

You know a penalty shoot-out has been great when the goalie nets the winner.

And that’s exactly what West Ham netminder Adrian did last night, securing a 9-8 victory in the penalty shoot-out at the end of a pulsating FA Cup third round clash with Everton.

Ten-man Everton looked to be on their way to the fourth round after Romelu Lukaku put them 2-1 up in extra-time, but an equaliser from Carlton Cole (yes, Carlton Cole) sent the game to a penalty shoot-out which carried on in the same vein as the 120 minutes that preceded it.

Seamus Coleman was one of the Everton scorers in the shoot-out but after Everton ‘keeper Joel Robles cracked his effort off the underside of the bar at 8-8, Adrian stepped up and completed the job for the Hammers.

And how. We love the way he casually disposes of his gloves before sticking it confidently in the corner…
