Chile ended almost a century of waiting as La Roja finally got their hands on the Copa America trophy following a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory against Argentina.
The hosts deserved their win though because they did an excellent job in keeping Lionel Messi quiet. The Barcelona maestro was unable to hit his magical standards due to the intense pressing and clever tactics that Chile used.
The deadlock couldn’t be broken in 90 minutes or after extra-time but two missed penaltiesm- Gonzalo Higuain and Ever Banega were the guilty parties – gave Alexis Sanchez the opportunity to win it for Chile and the Arsenal man delivered in style.
Despite losing his second international final in as many summers, Messi still agreed to pose for this sad selfie with a mascot. Fair play to him because not everyone else would in this situation.
