It was a game that had everything; a career-defining performance by Tim Howard in the USA goal, great goals, high drama, near misses and, eh, a Belgian player getting physically sick on the pitch just before the start of extra-time.

To be fair to Jan Vertonghen, such were the gruelling nature of the exchanges in Salvador that it’s a surprise that he was the only one getting rid of the contents of his pre-match meal on the pitch and besides, as was pointed out on the vine above by Marcus Ó Buachalla, anyone who’s ever taken part in pre-season training in any sport will have large amounts of empathy for the Spurs defender.
