Once a red, always a red, eh Paul?

Once a red, always a red, eh Paul?

The former Manchester United midfielder was on punditry duty for ITV for the Champions League clash between Manchester City and Roma last night at the Etihad Stadium and despite being in enemy territory, he couldn’t resist having a dig at United’s crosstown rivals.

The sight of empty seats on a big Champions League night was the subject of much conversation on Twitter last night – not surprisingly, Rio Ferdinand also couldn’t help wading into the debate – and when discussing the game at half-time, Scholes suggested that it was the travelling support making all the noise after an impressive first half-display.

Correct or not, Scholes’ jibe won’t have gone down well with City fans but as Irish viewers well know from their experience of RTE, a little bit of needle every now and again makes for entertaining viewing and in his brief punditry career to date, Scholes has shown he’s not afraid to tell it as it is.
