Vine: Ref Anthony Taylor seemed very happy his advantage led to an Everton goal last night

A job well done...

Don’t you love it when a plan comes together?

There was a dramatic conclusion to last night’s FA Cup clash between Everton and West Ham at Goodison Park as Romelu Lukaku’s late, late equaliser kept the Toffees in the competition, even if it does mean they’ll have to play the dreaded ‘replay that no manager wants at this stage of the season’.

What may have been missed during the late drama, however, was the reaction of referee Anthony Taylor after Lukaku’s goal had hit the net.

Taylor had played advantage to Everton after a West Ham foul in the build-up and although he didn’t go as far as celebrating when Lukaku’s shot ended up in the net, there was a noticeable bounce in his step as he watched it go in.

Perhaps we’re being a bit harsh on Taylor, after all, as the excellent Football Clichés pointed out last night, it’s far from the worst example of a referee seemingly celebrating a goal there has ever been…
