Vines: Crazy end to Galway and Kilkenny features a sensational equalising point by Joe Canning

What a game, what a finish, what a sport.

JOE

What a game, what a finish, what a sport.

After the dead ball exploits of Anthony Nash, TJ Reid and Patrick Horgan since the start of the Championship we can now add the name of Joe Canning to the list.

The Galway talisman took, and buried two penalties of his own today to level up the Leinster hurling semi-final with Kilkenny on two separate occasions today.

After the goal, Kilkenny reasserted their dominance and scored an unanswered 1-7 to seemingly book their place in the Leinster final. But Galway battled back and this Canning penalty, even better than the first, levelled the match in injury time.

But the drama wasn’t nearly done yet. Henry Shefflin came on and scored what looked like a fairytale match winner from right on the sideline before, in the final play of the game, Canning did this to make the final score Galway 5-16, Kilkenny 3-22.
