Wales fan wins bet with boss and gets to stay in France to watch the Wales game

Alan Loughnane

This was a genius plan.

We’re no good at judging crowd sizes, but we reckon a good 17 million Welsh fans wanted to wait out in France for the semi-final after their win over Belgium.

But unfortunately for one Wales fan named Matt Trotman, who lives and works in San Francisco, USA, he wasn’t going to be allowed to do so on account of his job.

But, Matt decided to take a gamble and came to an agreement with his boss Stephanie that if he got 1,000 likes on his Facebook post, he could stay over in France for the game with no consequences.

He took to Facebook with his plea and sure enough, the public didn’t let him down.

It read: “Petition to let Trots stay!!! Stephanie Brooks my manager in USA said if I get 1000 likes I can stay in France for the semis and potentially final!!!! Help a guy out!!! ‪#‎togetherstronger‬ ‪#‎wales‬‪#‎euro2016‬

He managed to gain nearly 2,000 likes on the post and will be taking his seat in the stands tonight as Wales take on Portugal in the semi-final.

Fair play to his manager…

Let’s hope Wales make his stay worth his while…
