WATCH: Eamon Dunphy tears into that Irish first-half performance

Eamon Dunphy has never been a man to shy away from speaking his mind.

After an undeniably subpar opening 45 minutes against Georgia in Tbilisi, the entire Irish XI has incurred his wrath.

Speaking at half-time during RTÉ’s coverage of the game, Dunphy said: “They’re rated 110 in the world. They’ve had 76% of the ball. I can’t think of a worse Irish performance.”

“It’s shocking. We got a goal start, we don’t know what to do in that circumstances. You need leadership, you need courage. You need people demanding the ball, and people wanting to pass the ball.”

Turning to an old favourite topic of his, Eamon said “Wes Hoolahan should be on the pitch, he would help greatly. But Harry Arter, who we talked up beforehand – no, Robbie Brady, no. McClean and Walters are working so hard but giving the ball away.”

“This is bad, really bad. I’ve never seen 45 minutes so bereft of ideas,” he finished by saying. “You can’t win World Cup qualifiers by playing like that.
