We think a bit of a meal may have been made of it though…
Ireland took on Great Britain in the 7-a-side soccer group game in the Paralympics last night and were outclassed, slipping to a 5-1 defeat.
After suffering heavy defeats at the hand of Ukraine and Brazil earlier in the competition, Ireland will now face the United States on Thursday to determine who will finish in seventh and eighth place at the Rio Games.
With the score at 4-1 last night, a ball was played through to Britain’s Martin Hickman who chased it down. Unfortunately from his perspective, the ball was a smidgen too long and he couldn’t get on the end of it.
Ireland’s goalie Brian McGillivary, who had a really good game and did well to limit the damage, came out to ensure there was no danger, but casually stuck a shoulder into Hickman and ended up burying him to the ground.

Hickman got up without too much drama and the referee took no further action against McGillivary.
