WATCH: Martin O’Neill conducts yet another incredibly tetchy interview with Tony O’Donoghue

Post-match interviews for the next two years should be interesting.

The day after officially signing a contract to remain on as Ireland manager until 2020, Martin O’Neill was in Lausanne in Switzerland on Wednesday for the UEFA Nations League draw.

Ireland ended up drawing our two most recent opponents in competitive games – Denmark and Wales – for a tournament with a format that Einstein himself would struggle to comprehend.

Of far more immediate interest than the draw was the latest in what has become a series of tetchy interviews between the Ireland manager and Tony O’Donoghue of RTÉ; you may remember O’Neill walking out of an interview in the immediate aftermath of the 5-1 defeat to Denmark at the Aviva Stadium.

On Wednesday in Lausanne, what should have been a very straightforward interview about the competition quickly turned very uncomfortable when O’Donoghue suggested that O’Neill was stung by criticism in the wake of the Denmark game.

The Ireland manager started to get a little tetchy approximately 45 seconds in and, as you’ll see below, it didn’t really improve from there…
