As far as tributes to Tony Keady go, you couldn’t do much better than Galway’s win over Waterford this afternoon.

Keady, a Galway hurling legend and All-Ireland winner who passed away just last month, was remembered fondly by fans of the sport throughout the afternoon.

As the final whistle blew and commentator Marty Morrissey celebrated Galway’s success, his partner Michael Duignan grew emotional remembering his friend Tony Keady.

After a moment of silence, Duignan said “Just Tony Keady, Marty, I have such time for the man. Looking at the piece on him there at half-time, it’s so heartbreaking for him and his family. Whether it was Galway or Wateford today.”

Noting that every game has winners and losers, Duignan said “Look at John Mullane, there, he’s heartbroken. And I’m heartbroken for the people of Waterford, but I’m delighted for the people of Galway. What an emotional day.”
