WATCH: There was some serious drama at the end of the Schools Cup basketball final
What a finish!
Brian Gaffney was the hero St Joseph’s The Bish at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on Monday night as he nailed a superb buzzer-beating basket to send his side to U16A Boys Subway Schools Cup glory in the closing seconds of double overtime.
With the game tied at 56-points apiece and with just five seconds on the clock in the second period of overtime, it looked certain that the game was headed to triple overtime.
Gaffney had other ideas and took the ball from the inbound and got the shot off to see his side earn an excellent 58-56 point victory over Calasanctius College.
