WATCH: The hilarious ‘Effin Eddy’ was on The Sunday Game and it was simply glorious

Paul Moore

How we missed him and his wonderful voice.

We’ve no doubt that quite a few Tipperary fans were tuned into The Sunday Game last night as Tipp’s resounding All-Ireland quarter-final win over Galway will live long in the Premier County.

In a remarkable display of free-flowing and inventive football, Liam Kearns’ side obliterated the Tribesmen by 3-13 to 1-10, and will now play their first All-Ireland football semi-final since 1935 against either Mayo or Tyrone.

We definitely know that Eddie Moroney was watching the action unfold at Croke Park, shame on you if you don’t know about the the man who went famous all over the world after commentating on a Tipperary U21 football final on that famous wet day in Littleton, and he was in fine voice yesterday.

Fans of Eddie’s original piece of commentary gold will notice that there’s a lovely bit of symmetry about his false teeth. We absolutely love this.

If you need a quick reminder about the finest piece of GAA commentary that was ever recorded then here it is.
