Ireland has two new sporting heroes as Gary and Paul O’Donovan have joined the esteemed list of Irish athletes to have won an Olympic medal after their stellar performance in the men’s lightweight double sculls final at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
In an enthralling finish, the boys from Skibbereen collected the silver after a stunning performance that saw them finish ahead of the USA, South Africa and Norway.
There’s no denying that both men pulled like a dog as Ireland can now proudly boast about having their first ever Olympic rowing medal.
