What are the odds on Brooklyn Beckham following in his Da’s footsteps?

On foot of the news that he has been invited to train at Carrington, odds have tumbled on Brooklyn Beckham playing for some of his father’s old teams.

As we have pointed out here a few times before, the old ‘back your grandson to play for your country when he’s born’ bet has paid off for some, most recently Harry Wilson’s granddad.

But some bloodlines are a little more of a safe bet, and from the day they were born, there was speculation on whether any of David Beckham’s kids would play professional sport.

That possibility edged closer with today’s news about 14-year old Brooklyn Beckham moving closer to spot on the Manchester United Academy.

Ladbrokes now price the oldest Beckham child at just 20/1 to play for Manchester United’s first team, down from 100/1 at the start of the week. Brooklyn has even slimmer odds of playing for an MLS side, down to just 4/1. Considering Beckham Senior will own a team in Miami pretty soon, that bet doesn’t look too bad.

An even longer punt is that Becks Junior will play for his country. Brooklyn is 33/1 to line out for England, and an even longer 50/1 to captain his country, just like his Da.

Considering the kid’s genes, you don’t want to be kicking yourself as you sit down to watch the 2022 World Cup now, do you?
