And the award for the most viral video of the year goes to…

When this video appeared online, everyone shared and liked it and it quickly became viral.

Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Twerk Fail’ video scoops a Webby Award.

Well it fooled us, and a whole lot of other people too. Back in September a video showing a girl attempting to create a sexy twerk video for her boyfriend before disaster strikes went viral. People were not sure whether it was real or not (we had our doubts) and it bounced around the globe at a ferocious rate of knots. However, it soon transpired that the video was the work of the people behind the Jimmy Kimmel show.

The video is now up to a colossal 16 million views since its release and the video where Kimmel revealed that it was fake, posted a week later, is now almost at 20 million views. Last night the original video picked up a Webby, which is one of the most prestigious awards you can get for all things internet.

The Webby Awards were established in 1996 as a way to recognise “excellence on the internet,” and Kimmel’s clip certainly fits the bill.

Hats off Jimmy…
