App: iCycle

Conflict with the missus during her time of the month is unavoidable, unless you have access to the iCycle app that is.

JOE

Say it out loud and you’ll be sure this is something cold and pointy or an app for pedal fanatics, but it’s neither of those things. Nowhere near them, in fact. No, no, this app offers something a lot better, something that will appeal to all men who have suffered at the hands of moody women over the years, whether it’s girlfriends, wives, friends or family.

The iCycle is an app that lets you know when the women in your life are at their most feisty, at their most irritable and in state in which their mood can change as easily as the wind, the dreaded time of the month.

The app divides a woman’s menstrual cycle into four different time zones, categorised in the app by different colours and if you so wish, you can follow the cycles of more than one woman.

If it’s red, steer well clear of the female in question – she’s bang in the middle of her period. If it’s yellow, best not take any chances; keep interaction to a minimum for she will be getting tetchy in anticipation of what is to follow.

If it’s blue, you’re in the clear; she’s over the worst of it. When it’s green, you’re in luck, she’s ovulating and in the best mood you’re likely to find her in for the next four weeks or so. If you’re going to miss your anniversary because you’re away on a stag weekend with the lads, this is the time to fess up.

Developers TJ Ware put it best, describing their product as follows, presumably trying to keep a straight face while doing so.

“Enjoy peace and quiet in your relationships. Prevent arguments and unnecessary misunderstandings, save money, plan your dates, vacations, weekend trips, and major discussions within her “best time period of the month, the Green Zone”.

Although there’s a more than slight sexist element to this app, women should also welcome its availability; let’s face it, they want to avoid us as much as we want to avoid them when they are in the throes of period induced physical and mental anguish.

You’ll have to fork out about €7.50 for this, but if it saves you from being on the warpath of a woman more temperamental than an Icelandic volcano, we think you’ll agree it’s worth it.

The iCycle app is available to download from the App Store.
