Spotify announce huge freebie for Irish listeners this week

Great news for avid readers.

Good news has just dropped for all Irish Spotify listeners this week, as it was announced that audiobooks are now included in their premium subscription model.

The means that all Irish Spotify Premium subscribers can listen to 15 hours worth of selected audiobooks per month.

If that’s not enough for any bookworms among us and you’re planning on more listening hours a month, a Spotify spokesperson confirmed that subscribers can purchase 10 more hours for €12.99 whenever you need.

The international streaming service have a catalogue of over 250,000 audiobooks that are now available in Ireland starting.

A Spotify spokesperson said: “From sci-fi to romance and everything in between, Spotify users in Ireland will now get access to 15 hours of audiobooks as part of their Premium subscription, offering you a new way to experience the stories you already love, and a great way to discover your next favourite book.

“Audiobooks in Premium means users are now getting even more from their Premium subscription: an on-demand catalogue of more than 100 million tracks, five million podcasts, and over 250,000 audiobooks, including titles from Irish authors such as Liz Nugent, Claire Coughlan and Graham Norton.”

Spotify also claim that they are now one of the largest subscription-based audiobook streaming platforms currently on the market. They are now competing with the likes of Amazon’s Audible platform.

Below are the full details of the new audiobook offering from Spotify:

  • A catalogue of over 250,000 audiobooks as part of existing Spotify Premium subscriptions.
  • Access to 15 hours of audiobook listening each month as part of their existing Premium subscription.
  • Additional 10-hour allocations can be purchased as top-ups for €12.99 whenever needed. 
  • Any audiobook marked as “Included in Premium” can be listened to with a Spotify Premium subscription. 
  • Users will be able to track their monthly audiobook listening time and see how much they have left at any point in their in-app settings.
  • Premium subscribers (master account holders) can download audiobooks for offline listening.
  • Listeners can find audiobooks by searching for particular titles in their Home feed and in our Audiobooks hub.

So, go forth and listen to some books, as the offering has been available since Monday, April 9.
