Apple are finally going to fix one of the most irritating things about their devices, the volume box

Can we scourge it from the face of the earth?

Since the creation of the iPhone, whenever you change the volume on the device, the volume is displayed in a white box in the centre of your screen and obscures your screen for a few precious seconds.

The whole process can be particularly annoying if you’re watching a video, a Snapchat or an Instagram Story. It’s a small inconvenience but can often result in you replaying the snap or rewinding the video.

But all this could be a thing of the past in iOS 11 which is being released in Autumn.

As spotted on MacRumours forum, one eagle-eyed user saw that the translucent volume slider has been replaced by a much smaller version in the top right hand corner of the screen.

Here’s what the volume slider looks like on the current operating system.

But in iOS 11 this Autumn, it will look far more streamlined…

In this plan, Apple are following the lead of YouTube and other Android companies, who’ve taken steps to reduce the size of their volume HUD over the past couple of years.

It was also revealed that another handy tweak would be coming to the control centre with users able to turn on and off Low Power Mode with much more ease.
