WATCH: First teaser for Battlefield 5 seems to finally reveal which war we’ll be fighting in

There was a lot of speculation on when then game was going to be set.

With one of the two biggest shooters already showing their hand last week, when Call Of Duty revealed that their next outing would be a future-set battle royale without a single player option, all eyes turned to see what the next Battlefield would consist of.

While the big announcement trailer is set to drop on Wednesday 23 May, developers EA couldn’t help but get a short teaser out before then.

Here it is, in all of its 19-second glory:

So….. not a lot to go on there, except there for some dude who doesn’t want us to make any noise.

However, there was just enough of a glimpse of something to give us an indication of which war we’ll be taking part in.

Battlefield One took us all the way back to WWI, and while Call Of Duty continues to plough on through into the future of sci-fi’y battles, it does look like Battlefield 5 will take place in….. World War II.

In what it is a teeny, weeny detail that you wouldn’t really notice unless you knew to be looking for it, at the very top of the screen we see two insignia:

On the left is what looks like a stylised representations of the British Union Jack, and on the right is the German Balkenkreuz, which was used by their army through WWII.

We’ll know more exact details once the full announcement trailer is revealed on Wednesday evening (9pm GMT), with The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah hosting the the event. Watch this space…
