This won’t end well…

Not too long ago, a video emerged of actor and comedian Bill Hader appearing on a chat show, doing impressions of Tom Cruise and Seth Rogan.

The video was manipulated so that it actually looked like it was Tom Cruise and Seth Rogan talking, rather than Hader.

Take a look, it’s very spooky.

Weird, right?

Well, an expert in the subject has recently said that ‘perfectly real’ manipulated videos will be made in “half-a-year to a year.”

Hao Li, an associate professor of computer science at the University of Southern California, said to CNBC that it won’t be long until it will be impossible to tell what is real and what it’s not.

“It’s still very easy you can tell from the naked eye most of the deepfakes, but there also are examples that are really, really convincing.

“Soon, it’s going to get to the point where there is no way that we can actually detect (deepfakes) anymore, so we have to look at other types of solutions.”

It’s all very Black Mirror isn’t it. And Black Mirror episodes always have happy endings, right? RIGHT?
