Eir confirm 37,000 customers affected by data breach after a laptop was stolen

Broadband and mobile service Eir have confirmed that the data of 37,000 customers has been breached.

The breach occurred after an unencrypted company laptop was stolen on Sunday, August 12.

A short statement from the company reported that personal data  including names, email addresses and Eir customer numbers for 37,000 could have been accessed.

However, the company also confirmed that financial records and details of those customers were not accessible on the laptop.

Eir have claimed that they will be in contact with all affected customers today.
