We advise people who have a habit of late night weekend posting to pray this new feature is rolled out…

It seems every week that goes by one popular app is taking inspiration from another popular app and trying to create some sort of super app that will be so perfect you won’t need anything else on your phone.

This week is the turn of Facebook. The social media giant has been having a glance over at what Snapchat have been up to and decided that they want to get in on some of that action.

This is what they’ve come up with – Facebook is trialing a new feature which allows users to set a self-destruct timer on their posts, which will automatically delete them after a set amount of time (between one hour and seven days).

The reason they’re going down this route is apparently because users feel that some of their posts are only relevant for a limited amount of time and they’re pointless being up there after the the event/occasion has taken place which makes sense.

A small number of users in New Zealand are currently trialling the new option. What do you think? It is a good idea?

Hat-tip to BBC.
