Here’s how one malicious website can crash your iPhone

Paul Moore

This is a pretty sh*tty thing to do.

After the recent scare with WhatsApp, there’s a new risk for anyone that uses an iPhone especially if you’re asked to visit a specific website because this url can crash your browser and even the device itself.

If you receive any email or message that asks you to visit crashsafari.com then ignore it – to be fair with an address like that it doesn’t inspire confidence – but consider this your warning.

The iPhone models and software that’s most vulnerable are the iPhone 6S and an iPhone 5S that run on iOS version 9.2.1 and a regular iPhone 6 using iOS 9.2.

Here’s what the process looks like when you visit the site.

While we’ve got no idea who might want to send this to their friends, it seems that there are some people out there that have received the link so beware.
