Ever wondered why certain people are always at the top of your Instagram feed? Here’s why.

You might notice that every time you head on to Instagram, you see the same people’s pictures and stories at the top of your newsfeed every single time.

It can be a little bit confusing, because often it’s not someone that you’re particularly close with, yet you feel you know everything about them because you see what they’re doing every morning, noon and night.

And Instagram have finally explained the process behind what shows up first in your feed.

In a post (on Twitter, ironically enough), Instagram said that “what shows up first in your feed is determined by what posts and accounts you engage with the most, as well as other contributing factors such as the timeliness of posts, how often you use Instagram, how many people you follow etc.”

So if you’re looking to step your Insta game up, now you know what you have to do.

Start banging up those stories and pictures more often, follow some more people, and start engaging with people more.

And if you’re sick of the same people showing up every time, the “mute” button is always there for you…
