Has your iPhone been crashing lately? This is probably why

Carl Kinsella

If you’ve been on social media at all in the past week or so, you’ve probably noticed an uptick in people complaining about their iPhone glitching or crashing.

Turns out there’s a clear explanation for this phenomenon, and it’s been shared by Greg Kumparak of TechCrunch. Kumparak writes that apparently a “glitch in the notifications system is crashing springboard,” is causing the issue. “Apps with daily notifications (workout apps, medication reminder apps, etc), in particular, seem to be triggering the crash.”

The way to solve this problem is to get your phone on for long enough, go to Settings > Notifications > the apps in question, and switch off “Allow notifications.”

Kumparak advises against any workaround where you try to change the date on your phone to trick the system into being healthy again. He has also suggested that downloading the latest version of the iOS operating system would also solve the problem.

So don’t smash that phone just yet…
